Miracle on Emerson Street

What a weekend

The resurrection of Christ, the USA over USSR in 1980 hockey, even water into wine at the wedding at Cana have nothing on the miracle that happened to me over the weekend.
On Saturday I received the tragic news that my Ipod had gone through the wash machine and the the dryer and was now dead. The Ipod was gone too soon it was just purchased in September, loaded at Zeeks shortly there after. Ipod had just entered it's prime with the removal of play list that Zeek had added and the just recent additions of My Morning Jacket and Kings of Leon. For 2 and half days it laid dead, but much like Christ on the 3rd day it resurrected. Came on and is working fine.

On Sunday I thought I had my first Manslaughter. I was working the bar and went next door to grab lunch. As I was coming back I noticed a bum taking a piss right on the front step of the bar I work at. So of course I freak out and give him a good shove. Well the fringin drunk bum went flying and landed square on his head. He didn't quite get up right away and I thought he mind not ever get up. But after a few minutes he stumbled away.
I wonder what would of happened if this puke had died. Would I get in trouble for pushing a guy who's pissing on were I work. Here's a drunk bum, who no one would ever miss, I'd be doing society a favor. But in this backwards state I have a feeling they'd lock me up and throw away the key. Though I probably would have some interesting blogs from prison.

Five Minutes. That's the total amount of time time the US has waterboarded terrorist detainees.
3 Detainees. One was Khalid Sheik Mohammed, "the principle architect of the 9/11 attacks" according to the 9/11 commission report, and the head of al Queda's "military committee:. Linked to numerous terror plots, he is believed to have financed the first World Trade Center bombing, helped set up the courier system that resulted in the infamous Bali bombing, and cut off Daniel Pearls head.
A second was Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, the head of al Queda operations in the Persian Gulf. He played a role in the 2000 millennium terror plats and was the mastermind behind the USS Cole attack, which killed 17 Americans.
The third was Abu Zubaydah, said to be Osama Bin Ladin's 2nd top guy. It is believed that Zubaydah essentially ran al Queda's terror camps and recruitment operations.
After he was waterboarded, Zubaydah offered intelligence officers a treasure trove of critical information. He was waterboarded just 6 months after the 9/11 attacks and while the anthrax scare was still ongoing.
John Kirkakou, a former CIA officer who witness the interrogation, told ABC's Brian Ross: "The threat information that he provided disrupted a number of attacks, maybe a dozen of attacks."
Kirkakou said he divulged "al Queda's leadership structure" and identified high-level terrorist the CIA didn't much, if anything about. It's been suggested that Zubaydah and al-Nashiri's confessions in turn led to the capture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.
And that's it. Less than five minutes, three awful men, five years ago.Why are these facts important? For several years, human-rights groups, the media and partisan opponents of the Bush administration and the war on terror have tried to portray the US as a "torture state" that has completely abdicated it's decency, it's principles and even it's soul-barreling down a "slippery slope" making America the same as Hitler's Germany and Stalin's Russia.
Yet none of of these interrogations were the result of a "rogue" CIA or the mad whims of a "torture presidency". The democratic congressional leadership for intelligence, including current house speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Jay Rockerfeller and former Sen. Bob Graham, were all briefed on CIA operations more than once.
"Among those being briefed, there was a pretty full understanding of what the CIA was doing". Porter Goss, who chaired the House Intellagence Committee from 1997-2004 before becoming CIA director, told the Washington Post. "And the reaction in the room was not just approval, but encouragement".
As for the slippery slope, the opposite is true. The slope has been away from torture and abuse. under existing law and Justice Department rulings, the practice has been dumped for several years now-expect, that is, for the thousands of US service man who've been subjected to it by our military as part of there training,
Even the pussy USA Today said that the decision to use waterboarding "was understandable in the frenzied aftermath of the 9/11and anthrax attacks."

A couple things the Dems will try to exploit when going against McCain is him saying that U.S. troops should be in Iraq 100 years if that's what it takes. I really don't think McCain wants to be fighting this way for 90 more years. The U.S. has had troops in Korea for over 50 years and troops in Germany and Japan for 63 years. I personally think it's a great idea to have a military presence in the heart of Middle East. Another thing that the Dems will try to make a big deal out of is his vernacular. But I love it how can't you like a guy who last year shouted "Fuck you" at Texas Sen. John Cornyn. "Only an asshole would put together a budget like this" he told former Budget Committee Chairman Sen.. Pete Domenici. hahahaha. Here's a guy that's gonna give it to you straight.

McCain Campgain manager Ricky Davis emialed me today, which I will share with you now.

Dear Tallent,

As we work towards wrapping up the Republican nomination for president, working hard in the next primary states of Wisconsin, Washington, Ohio, Texas, Vermont, and Rhode Island, we need your help bringing our party together behind John McCain. As McCain backers, we must work to pick up the remaining delegates needed to win the nomination. Your support is crucial in sending John McCain to the White House as our next president, and that's why I ask for your help today.

John McCain remains steadfast in his commitment to leadership that promotes principle over politics, and now he needs a commitment from you

As president, John McCain will reduce the size of the federal government, reduce your tax burden and win the war against radical Islamic extremism. John McCain's vision for our country is a stark contrast to both Democratic candidates who want to expand the size of the federal government, raise your taxes and immediately withdraw our troops from Iraq because of mounting political pressure.

The challenges facing our nation today demand tough solutions and these solutions require real leadership. Show your friends, family and neighbors that John McCain is the leader who will unite our party and win in November by following this link to make a donation for your exclusive lapel pin.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Rick Davis
Campaign Manager

What's with all the college shootings lately. I hate college kids as much as the next guy but this is crazy. Mass shootings seam to have trends, it used to be the mail carriers going nuts blowing away people on there route. Than it was cool to shoot up your office. (To this day I've always had an escape plan in any office I worked at in case someone came in shooting). Now schools are the trendy place to murder several people before killing yourself. If this keeps up online course's will really be popular.

Did you see Paul McCartney's ex-wife Heather Mills is representing herself in her ridiculos court case to squeeeze more money out of McCartney. Experts with knowledge of the case say Mills "doesn't have a leg to stand on". (YES! what writers strike?)

Washington State prosecutor Gerald Horne blasted the State of Massachusetts for it's "revolving door" history of letting violent criminals walk. 3 men that were convicted of violent crimes in MA are responsible for 4 murders in Washington state. The latest scum bag the state let walk was this Tavares guy who only stabbed his own mother to death. The state seemed to think it was a good idea to let this man out of jail and last week he shot to death a young couple over $50. Prosecutor Horn is 100% correct this state loves to let assholes out of jail. This state also love sex offenders. Everyone is up in arms over the perv that won $10 on a scratch ticket but never stopped to wonder why he was here. Mass is a haven for Sex offenders they come her because they know if they ever get that itch again, in MA they get a slap on in the wrist and will be sent out to do it again.

The last of a dying breed has died. The dying breed I'm taking about are intersections in southie without a 4 way stop sign. One of the last bastions of intersection freedom was on "I" & 6th Street going towards Broadway. I & 6th is now an all way stop. I & 6th was like the Alamo of non-stop signs and will be missed.

I read that Al Pacino is be playing the villain in the upcoming James Bond movie. I love the Bond movies but I'm not sure how I feel about this. The Bond flick with Halle Berry fell short mostly because Berry was a bigger star than Pierce Brosan the makers of the movie made her character almost a co-narsisasis to Bond.

Yeah Mother Fucker, KG is back! The C's come back from the break and go on a though road trip. Starting tonight with back to backs @ Denver and Golden State. Than the green head to Phoenix and Portland. Anything better than .500 on this trip would have to be looked at as a successful trip.

The NBA has to look into these shady trades. Teams taken guys out of retirement just to match up salaries. I'll be shocked if Keith Van Horn plays one minute of New Jersey. The Lakers did the same thing the Pau Gasol trade with Aaron Mckie.

Dwight Howard's Superman dunk would of been way better if he was wearing Iron man armor.

The Gootch's B's report:

B's Report

The B's aren't playing great Hockey Lately but they aren't playing awful either just very inconsistent. The B's seem to be playing great hockey away from the Garden but Struggle at home, The B's have lost 3 of their last 4, a bad loss to Florida in which they had the lead and Carolina ( they were victims of terrible officiating though) 3-2 both at home, beat Pittsburgh in Pitt 2-1 and although they out played Toronto for most of the game they lost 4-3 in OT. The B's really need some offensive help and have one of the top rated Organization in terms of Prospects that could get them the one or two players they need for the stretch run. The B's currently are tied with a Surging Buffalo team for the 8th seed. Here is a current look at the seeding.

Eastern Conference
Team GP Pts
1. Ottawa 59 73
2. New Jersey 60 73
3. Carolina 62 64
4. Montreal 60 73
5. Pittsburgh 59 71
6. N.Y. Rangers 61 67
7. Philadelphia 59 65
8. Boston 58 64
9. Buffalo 59 64
10. N.Y. Islanders 60 63
11. Washington 60 62
12. Atlanta 61 62
13. Florida 61 60
14. Toronto 60 57
15. Tampa Bay 59 56

The B's are ONLY 9 points out of the top seed so you can see how close this league is, they easily could be the #4 seed which I would love too see. But its pretty exciting just about every team is still in the race. But the B's face a tough question, they are the #2 Organization in terms of Prospects behind Atlanta, the Bruins minor leagues is stocked with Talent some of which are NHL ready or just about, does Peter Chiarelli trade some of this talent to get one or two players in here to help them now and possibly lose them to free agency or does he keep the team as is and play for the playoffs with what he has and hope they get real hot come playoff time. I prefer the latter I think they are good enough to get the 4th or 5th seed and be a tough team to play in the playoffs as they are and then go after some free agents in the off-season. There are rumors that the B's are close with a deal with Atlanta for Hossa ( free agent at seasons end) but that will cost the B's some good young players. I would wait till the off-season and go after him, Chara is a good friend of his who could recruit him and tell him the B's have a good thing going here and would be a huge help. Another rumor I have heard is the B's sending Murray to San Jose in a Pat Marleau deal. Marleau has been hurt this year but is much younger and be a big help in the future and would be about the same as Murray who has also been hurt and is getting old but still a sniper. But I hope they don't give Murray away if they intend on making the playoffs he is our only true goal scorer and makes savard so much better. The future of The B's is exciting, their Goaltending looks great Thomas, Fernandez ( will be back next year) I think will be dealt for a prospect or two and Auld, I like as a backup but Tuuka Rask will be a star for many many years and they have 3 future all star defenseman that have already played a few Games this year Matt Lashoff ( this guy is awesome), Matt Hunwick and Tommy Cross and forwards Pascal Pelletier ( is going to be awesome) Zach Hamill, Martins Karsums and Matt Hendicks. Things look good., too many years have the B's made deals at the deadline and traded good young players for older vets for help and it never worked out and it killed us for years. I hope they are smart, if they get Hossa the better get him to sign an extension

The more I think about it, I don't think I gave the Toronto Blue Jays enough credit in my quick AL East look. If there pitching holds up like it should they could be in the wild card hunt.

Also on Feb. 18th 1930 The planet Pluto is discovered to be the ninth planet of the solar system. Now these motherfuckers want to say Pluto isn't a planet. Who do these astronomers think they are to come out of nowhere saying everything we were taught is wrong. Pluto has always been a planet and will always be a planet.

Pluto will now be dubbed a dwarf planet. Fuck That. Just because it's a dwarf, it doesn't make it not a planet. Dwarf's are little people but there still considered people. Sure others find them freakish and snicker behind there back but there still people.

According to the new definition, a full-fledged planet is an object that orbits the sun and is large enough to have become round due to the force of its own gravity. In addition, a planet has to dominate the neighborhood around its orbit. Who's making these definitions and what does that mean "a planet has to dominate the neighborhood around its orbit". does a planet walk around bullying stars stealing the moons milk money?

These Astromomers can say what they want but when my daughter makes the planets out of playdough for science class, Pluto will be included.

Feb 19th-Dumb & Dumber star Jeff Daniels, NFL great Dwight Frenney and Seal. How the hell is Seal married to Heidi Klum. Not only his he purple, his face looks like someone poured boiling oil all over it.

Also on Feb. 19th 1847. After spending the winter under harsh conditions that drove them to cannibalism in order to survive, members of the Donner Party are rescued.
The Donner Party was a group of California-bound American settlers caught up in the "westering fever" of the 1840s. After becoming snowbound in the Sierra Nevada in the winter of 1846–1847, some of the emigrants resorted to cannibalism. Although this aspect of the tragedy has become synonymous with the Donner Party in the popular imagination, it actually was a minor part of the episode.

Whatever, I say good for the Donner Party. If I was going to starve to death, I would have no problem eating a human that's already dead. Meat's meat, I bet with some A.1. a peck steak would be pretty good.

Also on Feb 19th 1945 United States Marines storm the island of Iwo Jima. Nearly 60,000 marines went ashore the eight-square-mile volcanic island.
The U.S. invasion, known as Operation Detachment, was charged with the mission of capturing the airfields on the island which up until that time had harried U.S. bombing missions to Tokyo.
Everyone has seen the famous picture of the Marines raising the the US flag on top of Mount Suribachi. Most people think that was the end of the fighting on Iwo Jim, but it really was just the beginning.
The battle was marked by some of the fiercest fighting of the War. The Imperial Japanese Army positions on the island were heavily fortified, with vast bunkers, hidden artillery, and 11 miles. The battle was the first American attack on the Japanese Home Islands and the Imperial soldiers defended their positions tenaciously. Of the 21,000 Japanese soldiers present at the beginning of the battle, over 20,000 were killed and only 216 taken prisoner.
After the fall of Mt. Suribachi in the south, the Japanese still held a strong position throughout the island. General Tadamichi Kuribayashi still had the equivalent of eight infantry battalions, a tank regiment, two artillery and three heavy mortar battalions, plus the 5,000 gunners and naval infantry. With the landing area secure, more troops and heavy equipment came ashore and the invasion proceeded north to capture the airfields and the remainder of the island. Most Japanese soldiers fought to the death. On the night of March 25, a 300-man Japanese force launched a final counterattack. The Marines suffered heavy casualties—more than 100 were killed and another 200 Americans were wounded. The island was officially declared "secured" the following day. The number of American casualties was greater than the total Allied casualties at Battle of Normandy on D-Day.

There's been a few movies made about he battle for Iwo Jima. The Sands of Iwo Jima wasn't bad. John Wayne plays your typical marine hard ass. Flags of our Fathers was a great story about the men who raised the flag on top of Suribachi based on the book written by James Bradley, a very good read so will add it to the FUCK OPRAH BOOK CLUB: Because if she can have a book club then so can't I. Last and greatest of the Iwo Jima movies is the other movie Clint Eastwood made at the same time as Flags of our Fathers, Letters from Iwo Jima. Probably the best war movie to come out, maybe ever. One of the greatest movies in history well worth the subtitles.

Thanks for reading.

Dan Burton is my Valentine

OH yeah, it's fucking Valentines day. Lets all run out and by price inflated roses, chocolates, and stupid cards. Fuck this Valentines day, I'm I supposed to love my wife extra because it's Feb. 14th, go to hell with this holiday.

Valentines day is corporate propaganda. Cooked up by millionaires wanting to be even richer. Take a good look around you and do the math, balloons, stuffed toys, chocolate ... all being mass marketed so that corporations can once again fill their pockets for that slump between Christmases.

Who is this "St. valentine" guy anyway? Catholics claim he was third century roman priest who conducted marriages in secret even though marriage was prohibited by Emperor Claudious II. Others say he was beheaded for being a Christian. Roman historians believe that the February holiday is to celebrate their god lupercalia after he drove the wolves away. The French believe that valentine was a monk who brought two massacred children back to life.

So let me see if I understand this. Sometime around 1500 years ago there may have been a priest or monk or roman god that married soldiers, joined a cult, scared away dogs, and resurrected kids. What exactly does that have to do with naked angels firing arrows and stuffed animals holding flowers?

Now if Valentines day was still celebrated like they did it in the ancient days it would be pretty entertaining.

In an annual rite of fertility, eligible young men and women would be paired as couples through a town lottery. Briefly clad or naked men would then run through the town carrying the skins of newly sacrificed goats dipped in blood. The women of the town would present themselves to be gently slapped by the strips and marked by the blood to improve their chances of conceiving in the coming year.

You add some Coors Lights to that party and you got one hell of a holiday.

If you didn't think Clemans took roids and still don't after yesterday, then your either retarded or you just don't want to believe he did them. All the evidence points right at Clemans butt, were McNamee shot him up dozens off times. Turns out 19representative were reprimanded for taken pictures and getting autographs from Clemans on the day before the hearings. I bet dollars to donuts(what the fuck does that mean, anyway) that most if not all of those 19 were Republicans. Every single republican that got up there didn't bother asking questions that might lead to the truth, they just took there time to blast McNamee. The leader of this group was Indiana Representative Dan Burton.

This Burton's a real piece of shit. This hypocrite publically called Bill Clinton a "scumbag" during the blow job thing, only after to admit that knocked up some chick on his staff while still married. Here's Capitol Hill cunt that abused his power by using strong-arm and unethical campaign finance practices and by preying on female lobbyists, staffers and constituents. He has repeatedly faced questions about his own campaign fund-raising tactics, including accusations from a lobbyist that Burton strong-armed him for contributions and threatened to destroy his career if he did not pay up. Even more disturbing are allegations uncovered of the illegal use of congressional offices by Burton and a member of his committee staff for campaign fund-raising. But Burton's moral standing is further clouded by allegations of on-the-job sexual harassment, including an accusation that he groped a lobbyist from Planned Parenthood in the mid-1990s when she visited his Washington office. According to several sources, Burton has also maintained sexual relationships with women on his congressional and campaign payrolls.

Burton is regarded by many colleagues, even in his own party, as an obstructionist and something of a kook. Glowering or smiling through gritted teeth, he delights in blocking committee action by raising procedural issues, talking until his allotted time is up, then, after losing a voice vote, demanding a recorded count -- thereby flushing indignant colleagues from their offices for an exercise in futility. "More than a decade of contention on many issues has purchased Burton a reputation in Congress as something of a flake," wrote the Indianapolis Star's George Stuteville in 1993.

In 1992 he moved to cut $1 million from funding for breast-cancer and cervical screening programs, plus $20 million from the National Cancer Institute; but after his wife, Barbara, was diagnosed with breast cancer, he reversed course and wrote to a House subcommittee, "You have my complete support to make sure that women have the opportunity to get mammograms as early as possible."

Even more serious fund-raising charges against Burton emerged last year, when a former lobbyist for the government of Pakistan, Mark Siegel, claimed that the congressman had used heavy-handed tactics in pressuring him to deliver campaign contributions, including threats of serious consequences if Siegel failed to do so. Siegel's allegations were referred to a grand jury; that investigation, which has received little press coverage, apparently is still active. Burton has denied threatening Siegel. I could go on and on with eye witness accounts of shady fund raising by this shithead. Instead I'll go to golf.

In January 2007, Burton was revealed to have missed 19 votes to play in a charity golfing tournament. Burton was playing in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. A review of Burton's voting record shows that he has missed votes every year at the same time the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic takes place. In 2006 Burton ranked last in voting among Indiana congressmen making 89 percent of all votes.

Burton has previously been involved in other controversies regarding golf tournaments. In 1997, Burton played with the chairman of AT&T in the AT&T-sponsored Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Burton was then the chairman of a committee overseeing the award of a federal telecommunications contract. AT&T hosted a fundraiser for Burton at the tournament.

In 1995, Burton attempted to block an effort to tighten House rules regarding the attendance of Members at charity golf tournaments. Burton said, "Members of Congress who like to play golf -- when they're not in session and there's no business in the district -- can help charity and have fun."[3] In January 2007, Burton cast the lone "nay" vote against the new ethics rules in the House rules package.

On Tuesday John McCain swept the Potomac primaries and took down, Virginia, Maryland and D.C. If McCain was Bill Bellicheck the media would be bitching that he's running up the score. Both Ron Paul and Mike "what the" Fuckabee are still in the contest for some reason. I guess Fuckabee believes god will take away delegates from McCain. McCain Campaign manger Ricky Davis sent me an email yesterday that I will share with you now.

Last night, after our strong victories in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, I put together an analysis of the state of the race for the Republican nomination. Including the delegates won last night, John McCain is now close to securing the number of delegates needed to be the presumptive Republican nominee. In addition, it is now mathematically impossible for Mike Huckabee to win enough delegates to secure the Republican nomination; there simply aren’t enough delegates left at stake for him to win.
Until John McCain secures 1,191 delegates, we must campaign aggressively for the Republican nomination, and that requires additional resources in some of the most populous states in the country. We cannot turn our attention to the Democrats and their enormous war chests until this nomination is secure, and we cannot accomplish that goal without your additional help.

Thank you for being part of Team McCain, for being with the campaign through thick and thin. We’ve won some exciting contests over the last two months, but the challenge is not over – we must continue to spread John McCain’s conservative message of lowering taxes, strengthening our economy, winning the war in Iraq, and fighting radical Islamic extremists. There is a lot of work ahead, but as John McCain has noted, there has never been an election where the choices between the two parties will be so(Tony)stark.

Sincerely,

Rick Davis

On Tuesday Obama officially pulled ahead of Cliton. Taken the Potomac primaries. Hil has now resorted to a race war. She's down in Texas revving up all the Latino's who hate black people more than poison. Hil's pretty much throwing her useless eggs in one Texas/Ohio basket (ok I guess that's 2 baskets). She should ask Rudy how the all eggs in one basket strategy works.

I was shocked to see Stone Temple Pilots lead singer Scott Weiland went back to rehab this week. I thought he had really straightened himself out. For real though, why bother going back to rehab if your Weiland? He's been a junkie all his life he'll always be a junkie, stop trying to quit and just do drug till you die.

The C's head to the break on fire but banged up. Every single tall guy on the team is injured at the moment, except Leon Powe white trash. Powe is doing a great job in his extended playing time. The C's I'm most impressed with in the first half are Powe, Big Baby and Rondo. Rono's done a great job as point guard of this team, protecting the ball and filling up the stat sheet. (Did you know he had a 19 rebounds game in college). The C's have a tough west trip after the all-star break hopefully they can get there bigs healthy and play we'll enough to keep at least the best Eastern record.

I was so upset to see the picture of the Hulk villain Abomination for the new hulk movie that somes out this summer. The Abomination that's in the movie looks like a monster out of Resident Evil. We all know that the real Abomination looks like the Creature from the Black Lagoon that stole Debbie Clemans steroids.

The SI Swimsuit issue came out Tuesday and a lot of people don't see this as a big deal anymore. With Maxim magazines, FHM and Big Tits at Work.com people can get the chick fix other places instead of waiting a year for this issue. I still am a huge fan of the swimsuit issue. It goes back to childhood, checking out Elle McPherson on the cover and finding it so cool that they put suntan oil on her tits. The issue still has the best looking girls from all over the world. When I go the through the issue more indebt I'll give you my report. I can tell you I've already wasted ample time checking out some Hawaiian bird online.

I actually feel bad for my boss today. She has a small talk double whammy. She went on vacation and hurt her knee. So now everyone that come by her desk ask 2 small talk crap questions, "how was the trip?", "what happened to you knee".

Good Bye Chief Brody

I post with great sadness today, due to the passing of Chief Martin Brody. Heaven's gonna need a bigger boat. A 25 foot 3 ton Great White couldn't get Chief Brody but the big C did. It's a little ironic since the shark that Brody is known for killing is immune to cancer. Also ironic that Chief Brody passed away on what was Shark Sunday on Discovery channel.

Martin unselfishly took the job on Amity Island, even though he's a afraid of the ocean, for a better life for his family and "in Amity one man can make a difference"

Brody didn't figure he'd have a shark problem in his first summer. After Chrissie Watkins was eaten, Brody made the right decision to close the beaches only to be overruled my Mayor Larry Vaughn because "Amity is a summer town, it needs summer dollars".

After a third attack on the 4th of July, Chief Brody forced Mayor Vaughn to hire Captain Quint to kill the shark.
Brody with Matt Hooper from the Oceanographic Institute went with Captain Quint on the Orca to catch and kill the shark. It was Brody's party, Brody's chatter but Quint's Vessel.
The boat was sunk, Hooper was presumed dead, Quint was definitely dead, but Brody prevailed sticking a tank of compressed air in the sharks mouth and shooting it with the riffle, blowing the fuck out of the shark, while say his famous quote "smile, you son of a bitch".

Brody is survived by his cunt wife(who sleeps with Hooper in the book), and 2 sons Michael and Sean.

Brody also stared in Marvel Comics The Punisher, Marathon Man, The French Connection, & 2001: A Space Oddisy. I was shocked to find out that Brody was originally casted as John Rambo in First Blood.

A weekend sweep for Obama puts him in the lead for the Democrat primary. Typical Hil, she fired her campaign manager, blaming everyone else, when she's in fact the bitch that people don't like.

Since I last mentioned the Celts, they've won 3 in a row. At home against the Clippers, squeaked out a win in Minn on Leon Powe white trash tip at the buzzer and a most impressive win yesterday against the World Champion Spurs. Yesterdays game was great, without K-Perk and of course KG, the C's got great minutes from Big Baby. While Pierce took over on offensive the whole team played great D. Without anyone bigger than 6'8'' I thought the C's might be kaput in this one but they played a great game. There now 5-2 without KG, including win against Dallas and San Antonio, FourAces informs me that there 16-0 against the West. All this should more than prove that this current roster of Celtics is more can capable of winning an NBA Championship. They play at Indiana Tuesday and home against the Knicks on Wednesday before we'll deserved break.

So Clemans had McNamee shoot up his wife for the SI swimsuit issue. HAHAHA that's too funny. No doubt that he has his KKKKids juicing.

The Gootch's B's report:
OK, the B's took a tough loss to Buffalo at home early in the week due to Buffalo's goalie and our Power Play but the B's went up to Buffalo and got revenge last night with a 3-2 shootout win, it was a huge win for us. The B's are home the next 2 games again Florida and Carolina too big games in the standings for us both teams a closely behind us but Carolina is currently the #3 seed because they are the Southeast Division leaders. This is really such a great year in Hockey, The B's are currently the 7th seed in the East but only 6 points out of 4th and 9 behind Ottawa for first considering you get 2 points a win that is a possibility, I do believe we had our chance to catch Ottawa while they had some injuries but They got Heatley back and now they are rolling again but catching Montreal for the 4th seed is a definite possibility and will beat them the next 2 times we play them, LOG IT. The division to watch is the Southeast Division, its so close and competitive Carolina 58 pts, Wash 57 pts, Atlanta 56 pts, Florida 55 pts and Tampa 51 pts, that is a lot of fun too watch because it looks like only the division winner will make the playoffs out of that division. B's This week, Fla tonight, Carolina and Pitt this week.

The first X-men after the Messiah complex was a dud. Emma and Cyclops vacationing in The Savage Land, Colussus, Logan and Nightcrawler playing practically jokes on each other in Germany before heading to Russia and Archangel finding out that San Francisco has gone back into the 60's. I hope this is all heading somewhere cause that was pretty weak. We'll see how the aftermath of the Messiah Complex effected X-Factor and the new X-Force this week.
A shocker revealed in this months Ms.Marvel. Iron Man tells S.H.I.E.L.D agent Sum that Ms.Marvel is a Skrull. I'm not buying it, there's more to this than this issue lets on, well see.

Even if Dillon's father was in jail it wasn't a good idea for Mrs.Walsh to invite him to stay at there house while recovering from a concussion and some cracked ribs. He and Brenda had just broke up, nothing good could of come of that. I don't think Eckhouse overreacted at all. How is he supposed to react to coming home from a conference and his daughters dry-humping Dillon on the couch.

Birthdays

Jan 9th-Gone Fishing Star Joe Peschi, Bad Vlad Guerreo, hot chick Zhang Zyi, NBA up and comer Jameer Nelson and former NBA role player Michael Jordan.

On Jan 1st I accidentally said happy birthday to the Jan 10th birthday people too, so I'll just say that on Jan 2 1989, The World Wrestling Foundation admits in court that professional wrestling is an exhibition and not a sport. This news leaves FourAces in a dark depression, that came to a head one night when he was hauled of to the asylum after chasing down 43 Vicodin with a purple monster.

Jan 11th-Toilet paper user Sheryl Crow, butter face Kelly Rowland, hot chick Jennifer Anniston, Tallent Choice pick Boogie Nights star Burt Reynolds and the most influencail actor of the last 30 years Leslie Neilson.
Leading roles in the science fiction classic Forbidden Planet and as the ship's captain in The Poseidon Adventure came long before Nielsen considered a turn to comedy. His performance as a Dr.Rumack in 1980's Airplane! marked a turning point in Nielsen's career, one that would make him, in the words of movie critic Roger Ebert, "the Olivier of spoofs. I have no idea what that's supposed to mean but whatever.
Directors, interested in the success of the new comedy, decided to bring the slapstick style of comedy to television. They asked Nielsen to play the lead role in their new series, Police Squad! The series introduced Nielsen as Frank Drebin, a stereotypical police officer modeled after earlier detective series. Six years after the cancellation of Police Squad!, the directors decided to make a feature length version for theaters. Titled The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! Both Airplanes and The Naked Gun are Tallent Choice movies, the original Airplane is a 5 star elite choice one of the greatest movies ever. Nielsen also started in good comedies, Scary Movie3, Spy Hard, Dracula: Dead and Loving it, & Repossessed.

“Its all psychological! – You say barracuda and people say huh? – You say shark and you have a panic on the fourth of July!”

It's all over! Shit Romney is all done, I guess 40 Million of his own dollars was enough! First thing on McCain's agenda will be to unite his republican party. You might see McCain be a real phony in the next couple months as he tries to get the real right wing clowns back on his side. So even if you hear McCain say that everyone should carry a sidearm or anyone that even mentions the word abortion will get punched in the mouth, don't worry he's just trying to get the far right back on his side, he's still the moderate we need to unite the country.
Hopefully the democrat primary will stay close and go to a 7th game if you will. That way they'll sap the money out of each others campaign and keep shitting on each other so McCain won't have to.

Finally Governor Patrick Duval has a good idea. He wants to start re-testing drivers that are over 65 years old. Maybe he was blind cc'd on the email Tam from Canton sent me that said:
"It is time to start testing drivers over 65. They are a real threat on the roadways to injure and kill others. I know the politicians are afraid to bring this subject to the forefront because the elderly vote in droves…like yesterday when an 85 year-old drove his Ford Escape to a school in Stoughton to cast his vote and drove over a grass rotary, plowed a helpless little girl in into a brick FUCKING wall, pinned her there and killed her. The son of a bitch said, “The car went into overdrive, I guess, and the brakes didn’t work”. LIAR, you hit the GD accelerator and never lifted your foot from it. He should not be allowed to drive ever again"

Good to see Sen.Kennedy has been spending his time trying to stop a Vanity Fair article about one of his assbag brothers many illegitimate kids. Doesn't Ted have something better to do like getting drunk and fighting his pet goat.

The FBI arrested dozens of aleged mob figures, the biggest mob sting since the John Gotti days. Among those arrested were, Elmo, Tommy Sneakers, The Greaseball, Jackie the Nose, Joe Gag, Buckwheat, Johnny Red Rose, Fat Richie and Mike the Electrician.

Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert was the top movie in America last weekend. First of all ain't they the same fucking person? She's not an unregistered super hero, she doesn't need an alta ego. 2nd the only reason so many parents took there kids to she this 15 year old cock tease is because Disney said it would only be out for a limited time. But after the movie made millions the first week, Disney said "HA! fooled you! The movie will be out for weeks, but thanks for running out and seeing it in it's opening weekend.

Two Komodo dragons have hatched at the Sedgwick County Zoo, apparently without the fertilization of a male. The dragons, both males, are believed to be the first in North America known to have hatched by parthenogenesis, which occurs naturally in some species, including invertebrates and lower plants. Apparently the dragons took it literally when they were told to go fuck themselves.

Woody Allen once described Scarlet Johansson as "criminally sexual." In his latest film, the legendary director casts the starlet's sexuality in a whole new light.

Allen and Johansson recently finished work on 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona' in Spain. In it, Johansson has "an extremely erotic" sex scene with co-star Penelope Cruz.

Jimmy Scorner's thoughts on this development:
"Lesbianism is A+, but Penelope Cruz is a gross pterodactyl who somehow snuck in my movies yet can't speak a word of English. LOG IT"

The Oscar nominees came out the other day and as usual you won't find any good movies like Superbad or Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Only pussy movies that only pussy critics enjoy. Michael Clayton was nominated for best picture as well as 15 other awards which blows my mind. Clayton had 22 catches for 331 yards and no touchdowns this season, how good could that movie actually be.

One week until pitchers and catchers report to spring training! Let's take a quick pre-spring training look at the AL east.
The Sox have almost the same exact team coming back. They've added some veteran arms to compete for a bullpen job and Mr.Nice Guy Sean Casey as a back up to Yuke and lefty off the bench. The re-signing of Bobby Keilty shows that the Sox have no plans to keep Coco as there 4th outfielder. Hopefully Coco can be used as a chip to help replace Schilling. The good news about Schillings injury is that the Sox do have good pitching dept and if he can come back with a rested arm in August, he could be ready for October when he does his best work anyway. I do agree with Disco, that Schilling took a paycut with the Sox because he knew he was hurting. If Schilling is a real man he'll donate this years salary to the McCain Campaign. McCain's campaign is struggling for cash and he can't count on the loads of money that big corporations usually give the GOP nominee because McCain has never and will never suck the cock of the big corporations. Sorry I forgot were talking baseball.
The Yanks didn't do much over the winter either. There going with Wang, 2 Dinosaurs & 2 babies in there starting rotation. That should be enough with the offensive fire power that they have. There real questions are in there bullpen, Rivera is still there but he turns 104 this spring and since the should have there 5 starters Joba should still be the dominate set up guy, but everyone else in the bullpen is a suspect. If the Yanks do make it to the playoffs which is absolutely not a guarantee anymore, there still missing that power ace that's needed to win in October. Of course a huge question surrounding the yanks is the change from Torre to Giradi. Giradi was a hard nosed get in your face manager with the Marlins. That was a team full kids and it worked there, it will be interesting to see if Giradi is more of a players manager with the veteran yanks.
After years and years of inconsistent moves Baltimore is finally heading in a direction, down. They've blown the whole fringin thing up. Got rid of Tejada, traded Bedard for Adam not pac man Jones and are going to trade Brian Roberts to the Cubs. There a terrible team but at least they have a plan to re-build and start over.
Tampa is actually heading in a the right direction. They have Kazmir, Shields and now Matt Garza Strip, which should be good top of the rotation for years to come. If Rocco Baldelli can ever stay healthy they have a good outfield and will score runs. Even though there finally heading in the right direction there still years away, but they'll be better than ever before and can't be counted on for a series sweep anymore with those 3 starters.
Toronto really didn't improve much in the off season, they have some good arms up there, but don't have any pop in there lineup and even if all there pitchers stay healthy the won't score enough runs to compete this season.

For Clemans sake I hope he told congress the true the other day. MacNamee has the DNA to prove Clemans was a cheat and there's no better evidence than DNA. Clemans is already going to go down as a fraud, it's time for him to to tell the truth, maybe save his Hall of Fame chances and not go to jail.

This Sunday on the Discovery channel is shark Sunday. So I'll take this opportunity to write about my of my true loves. SHARKS! Most people are very ignorant when it comes to sharks. They think that all sharks should be killed of and serve no purpose but to swim around and bite off Chiza's fathers nuts. People have no idea how important sharks are to the ecosystem.
Sharks play an important role at all tropic levels of the ocean ecosystem from scavengers to super-predators. Scavengers prey upon dead or dying animals, super predators help to control populations and maintain prey species diversity by concentrating on the most available species. The balance of the ecosystem is extremely important because all organisms belonging to the ecosystem depend upon each other to maintain this balance. Sharks play an important role in the ocean food chain. Sharks eat the weak, sick and dead fish that maintains a healthy ocean ecosystem, enabling the fittest to survive. If the large sharks were missing in this food chain, the large predator fish population would grow. This may cause depletion of the smaller prey fish, causing an imbalance. So the unchecked killing of sharks across the world needs to stop.
Sharks reproduce similar to mammals in that they have a low rate of reproduction and do not spawn like fish that have thousands or millions of larvae, hoping for a certain percentage to sustain the species. Many shark populations around the world have declined dramatically in recent decades. Over-fishing is the principal culprit in the precipitous decline. Sharks' biological vulnerabilities - their late sexual maturation and low reproductive rates - don't allow species to quickly recoup losses incurred from fishing. Quite simply, sharks are being taken out of the ocean faster than they can reproduce.
Not only are sharks essential to the worlds ecosystem but sharks are immune to most all disease, including cancer... sharks are the subject of intensive medical research that could some day benefit man. Also for all you fucks that like lobster, if sharks decline to seriously low numbers, commercial fisheries could be threatened. Octopuses eat lobsters and sharks eat octopuses. The declining number of sharks cannot control the octopuses eating the lobsters. Sharks are a public resource that should be protected for the benefits of future generations. The world was up in arms in the 40's when Hitler was trying to wipe out the Jews and Bono spends all day worring about genocide in Africa, but no one's sticking up for the sharks. But I bet when there are no shell fish to eat everyone will notice how important sharks are.
Fewer big sharks in the oceans mean that bay scallops and other shellfish may be harder to find at the market, according to an article in the March 30 issue of the journal Science, tying two unlikely links in the food web to the same fate.
A team of Canadian and American ecologists, led by world-renowned fisheries biologist Ransom Myers at Dalhousie University, has found that over fishing the largest predatory sharks, such as the bull, great white, dusky, and hammerhead sharks, along the Atlantic Coast of the United States has led to an explosion of their ray, skate, and small shark prey species.
"With fewer sharks around, the species they prey upon ? Like cownose rays have increased in numbers, and in turn, hordes of cownose rays dining on bay scallops, have wiped the scallops out," says co-author Julia Baum of Dalhousie.
"This ecological event is having a large impact on local communities that depend so much on healthy fisheries," says Charles Peterson, a professor of marine sciences biology and ecology at the Institute of Marine Sciences, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and co-leader of the study.
The research builds upon an earlier study by Myers and Baum, published in Science in 2003, which used data from commercial fisheries to show rapid declines in the great sharks of the northwest Atlantic since the mid-1980s. Now, by examining a dozen different research surveys from 1970-2005 along the eastern U.S. coast, the research team has found that their original study underestimated the extent of the declines: scalloped hammerhead and tiger sharks may have declined by more than 97 percent; bull, dusky, and smooth hammerhead sharks by more than 99 percent.
"Large sharks have been functionally eliminated from the east coast of the U.S., meaning that they can no longer perform their ecosystem role as top predators," says Baum. "The extent of the declines shouldn't be a surprise considering how heavily large.
Most people don't give a shit about sharks because they think sharks are out to eat us.
In fact shark attacks are extremely rare. An individual is three times more likely to be hit by lightning than to be bitten by a shark.
The odds of being attacked by a shark are pretty slim, about 1 in 65,000,000.
Your much more likely to be killed by a human than a shark, so lets start fishing for people. Besides people, your much more likely to get killed by a bee, or even your household pet.
How about getting rid of the mosquitoes Sharks kill about five people a year. Mosquitoes kill over a million people a year and have zero redeemable qualities. I personally would rather get bit by a shark than a mosquito, I'd rather be bleeding than itchy.
Anyway the highlight of Shark Sunday will be Air Jaws: South Africa, take a look at the pics above to see what that's all about.

As you read the other day Dick Vitale returned to ESPN to call the UNC/Duke game. But here in Boston we got fucked. The game was blacked out on ESPN because it was airing on the local ACC feed on TV38 or the UPN or whatever it calls itself now. That was the first disappointment then Duke comes out firing 3's from everywhere to beat UNC, it was quite gay. Since Duke beat UNC at home all the pundits want to suck Dukes balls. But I know better, there soft and have no inside presence. They'll get bounced by the sweet 16. I still like my pre-season final four prediction of UNC, Kansas, Georgetown & Michigan State.

I think Shaq is an awful fit for the Phoenix Suns. They do need a defensive presence in the middle but Shaq's days of dominating are over. The Suns up tempo game does not suit Shaq, he'll just be crossing half court while the rest of the team has already scored and is getting back on defense.

Birthdays:
Jan 7-Good actor James Spader I hardly know her, comedian Chris Rock, huge dickhead Aston Kutcher and 2 time NBA MVP and probably the best white player this generation, Steve Nash.
Jan 8th-Crazy actor Nick Nolte, rich author John Grisham, TV Legend Gary Coleman, Cliton friend Mary Steenburgen, Private Parts star Mary McCormack and NBA star Alonzo Mourning.Today is also the birthday of the worlds greatest composer John Williams. Williams has composed many of the most famous film scores in history, including those for Jaws, Star Wars, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, & Jurassic Park. Some people will tell you that Danny Elfman(Simpson theme) is in the same ballpark as John Williams, that just goes to show you that some people are idiots

Also on Jan 8th 1960 Boston Celtic center Bill Russell pulls down 51 rebounds to set a new NBA record, later eclipsed by Wilt Chamberlain's record of 55.
Can you believe that? ESPN goes all Kobe all the time when he scores 50 points never mind grabbing 50 rebounds that's just crazy, Russell and Wilts Medaclorian levels must have been off the charts.

Super Tuesday fallout and the Babe

Super Tuesday has come on and gone and the GOP race is all but over. McCain with the help of Mike "I'm gonna git you" Suckabee, is leading in the the bottom of the ninth and Paplebon's coming into close. The McCainiac won the big boy states New York & California. As well as New Jersey, Illinois, Delaware, Connecticut, Oklahoma and Arizona & Missouri.

With these wins and I'm gonna git you Suckabee taking all the crazy southern god states, it left Shit Romney with only this backwards state, and his Big Mountain Conference shit states.

I guess shit is going to stay in the race and waste more money, Good fuck him and his money, he's such a clown.

Super Tuesday didn't solve anything for the Democrats. It's still anyone ballgame.

A lot of good Obama's Mass Endorsements did him. He had the 3 stooges endorsements and still really never had a chance in Mass. That's what he gets for having 3 shitbags endorse him.

I love how both Robert Kennedy and JFK's kids have commercials endorsing someone for president. Who gives a fuck who there voting for, what did these 2 goons ever do besides have dickhead fathers that got there brains blown out. What about Uday and Qusay Hussein they were dickheads that got shot, who are there kids voting for.

So after a long night McCain campaign manager Ricky Davis finally had time to email me, which I will share with you now:

Dear Tallent,

What a night! We are still tallying up the delegates but the votes are in and it looks to be a very big night for John McCain. From New York in the east to California on the west coast, we won some of the biggest states in the country. We over-performed, beat expectations among most groups, and saw a record number of the voters come out to support John McCain. We won big in both states with lots of delegates and in historic battleground states, defying pundits and reasserting the views of those that really pick presidents - voters. All across the country, we saw Americans come out and vote for leadership. And they voted for John McCain.

Because of your hard work over the past year, we won New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Delaware, Connecticut, Oklahoma and Arizona. We won the historic bellwether state of Missouri, where voters have picked the winning candidate in all but one presidential election over the last one hundred years. We swept Republican votes in the delegate-rich state of California, defying the polls and cementing John McCain as the national front-runner. There is a lot to celebrate today, and we are much closer to the coveted 1,191 delegates needed to secure the Republican nomination for president, but we still have work to do.

The battle does not end here. We have many more states to win and committed opponents who are not giving up any time soon, despite John McCain's significant lead. We can't afford to rest for one second and must compete to win, and fast. The faster John McCain secures victory, the more time we'll have to prepare to take on the Democrats in November.

B?IHKH!'s Election correspondent reports:

In the West Vagina convention, they do 2 rounds of voting. Romney was ahead after the first one, Huckster 2nd, McCain a distant 3rd. So the Huckster and McCain cut a deal. McCain sent all his supporters to Huckabee for the 2nd round of voting, to send him in front of Romney. Since it was winner take all, McCain had nothing to lose, and he'd rather the Huckster get the 18 winner take all delegates than Romney, so the deal was struck.

Since it was good for McCain, I loved this development, but it really does prove that Caucus's and conventions are no match for a good primary at your side.

Tax's Super Tuesday Report:
It was a great night for
Obama. The delegate count should be close, he should win by a little bit.
She won 4 of the 5 biggest states, but he kicked her ass all over the
rest of the country. If New Mexico holds to the exit polls, he
should win a close one there. 14 states to 8 and he should win more
pledged delegates for the night too. Plus he was up 15 from before. The
shit you see on CNN includes the superdelegates, who can change their
mind if they want to. She is up by 89 superdelegates. Even with that
she should only be up by like 50-60. He'll close that gap quickly.
He'll start picking up superdelegates himself, plus, the next round of
primaries favor him big time. Caucuses in Nebraska & Washington on
Saturday with a primary in Louisiana. He might win all 3 of them. Then
a caucus in Maine on SUNDAY. HE OWNS THE CAUCUSES. Caps lock.
Then the Potomac primaries with DC, Virginia and Maryland. Lots of black
people there. Then you have a caucus in Hawaii, which is his home
state, and a primary in Wisconsin, he is really strong in the Midwest and
it neighbors Illinois. He could win all of those. Then you go to
March 4th with Ohio and Texas, strong Clinton states, but he might have all the momentum by then. He has a lot more money than her to run ads in all these states. So, a great night for Obama. I was saying he would be in a good position if he was within 80-100 for the night,
and he will actually be ahead.

An even better night for McCain. It's over. McCain kept winning all the winner take all states, and he won Cali. Romney has nothing left. Huckabee can't win anything but the South. it's over. McCain for the GOP. Obama is the favorite for the Democrats

Hilary Cliton(not a misspelling) has no right ever spouting change. For the last 28 years there has been either a Bush or Cliton on the ticket, if Hilary won this year it would be 32 years and if re-elected 36 years, that's not much change.

I bartended last night and since it was Super Tuesday and no one wanted to mention the Super Bowl, we broke the first rule of barrooms and talked politics. Well it's the last time I let that happen because some fucking bozo says to me. "Well, we don't even know were McCain was for 5 years, he could be like the Manchurian Candidate and really be commie spy". I immediately escorted this man from the bar and told him I should hang him for treason. Not sure what I meant by that but it's all I could come up with at the time.

While at work I needed the 2 main TV's for the Bruins and Celtics, so I had to use the back TV that doesn't really get any channels, to get the election coverage. So at first I thought I had found it with NBC but at 8 O'clock they went to The Biggest Loser: Couples. Is that what America wants? Would my country really want to watch some married glutton hippos crying because they can't leave there own fucking house, instead of tuning in to see what the future holds for our nation?

Check this story out that Jimmy Scooner sent me:

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) ” A father sodomized his 18-year-old stepson to avenge the teenager's alleged rape of the man's 8-year-old daughter, police said.

The father, 32, turned himself into to authorities on Friday and was released from jail Saturday after posting a $17,500 bond. He faces a charge of aggravated sexual assault.

The stepson was arrested Jan. 2 and charged with suspicion of aggravated sexual assault. Police say the father caught him assaulting his daughter, and a subsequent examination at a hospital revealed the girl had been sodomized.

Sgt. Cheryl Johnson, supervisor of the Fort Worth sex crimes unit, said in a story posted Saturday on the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Web site that people need to "allow the criminal justice system to work for them."

"This is a very unique case, but we have a criminal justice system in place, and no one can take the law into their own hands," Johnson said.

The Star-Telegram didn't identify the father or the stepson to protect the identity of the girl. Fort Worth police didn't immediately return phone and e-mail messages from The Associated Press.

When the stepson was arrested, the man warned his wife not to get the teenager out of jail. She posted bond for the teen's release. When he called home Jan. 3 after getting released, the father took the call and picked him up, police said.

Instead of taking the teenager home, the Arlington man drove to an abandoned house in Fort Worth, beat his stepson with a baseball bat and sodomized him with a metal tool, police said.

After the man left, the stepson found a pay phone and called police, who searched the abandoned home.

"We did find evidence at the scene to corroborate our victim's story," Johnson said.

Great for this guy! I'll be pissed if he see's one second in jail. As a matter of fact the government should give him an extra $1,500

Great Celt's game last night, even though they lost. Even though they played shitty D, I was very please to see them score so many points without KG. The Defense will be there especially when KG come back.
I didn't know basketball kept a plus/minus stat like hockey but they do and the C's have the 1st, 2nd, 4th & 5th leading plus/minus guys in the league.

I guy I know was 5 for 5 on the mega millions but didn't have the bonus ball. That's the worst way to win $250,000.

Has anyone seen the commercial for Oprah's Big Give. I seen the commercial but couldn't hear it, but I really didn't have to. It was typical fatzo saying "HEY EVERYONE LOOK AT ME GIVE SHIT TO CHARITY, OVER HERE EVERYONE I'M GIVING SHIT AWAY AGAIN"

Say what you what about Bill Gates but he just gave 20 Million to help rice farmers but did he get a ABC TV Special. He once gave 250 Million Dollars to help Maleria research, 250 Million fucking dollars and he hardly makes the newspaper but Oprah gives a car to a few of her minions and people from coast to coast want to rub her g spot for it.

Sad to say goodbye to the Quiet Man pub, who closed there doors last night. The Quiet man was a dying breed of establishment, kind of a dive, but a great meal, great fucking steak tips, cold beer, and good prices. Worst bathrooms in America though, those will not be missed.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the Uncanny X men now that Xavier's mansion has been destroyed, and Professor X is brain dead from the head shot from Bishop. What abut Bishop is he straight bad guy now that he tried to kill the Messiah? Will he follow Cable into the future and continue to stalk the baby?

A Study came out yesterday that negativity & annoyance in marriage gets worse over time.
An other thing to file under no shit.

Birthdays-Bedtime for Bonzo star Ronald Regan, Guns & Roses front man Axl Rose, Legend Bob Marley, David Caruso look alike Rick Ashltey, actor Rip Torn who besides having one of the best names and mug shots (seen above) in the business Rip has appeared in Tallent Choice movie Dodgeball as well as other good movies, Down Periscope & Summer Rental as well as being in both Men in Black movies. In 2001 Torn was nominated for best supporting actor for his role in Freddy Got Fingered which was also up for Best Picture that year. Also having a birthday today is Babe Ruth.
Though it's probably impossible to say who the best player to MLB history is because of the different era's, segregation, roids, even the height of the mound. But the best case is to be made for Ruth, not only was he the most prolific home run hitter of all time, he was also a great pitcher, he pitched 7 full years winning 2 ERA titles, led the league in wins 3 times and k's twice. After the 7 full seasons Babe became strictly a position player for 9 years until he came back to pitch a 3 run complete game in 1930 then came back in 1933 to pitch a complete game this time with 5 runs. Even with those to spot starts in 30 & 33 Ruth averaged 267 innings, with a 2.28 ERA per season in his career. Oh yeah he also averaged 46 home runs a year over 21 drunk seasons while winning 13 batting titles and even led the league in steals twice. In 1919 Babe led the league in homers with 29 the next best guy was a guy named frigin Home Run Baker with 10, more like Home Run Faker. The next season he led with 54 the next guy had 19! The next season in 1921 he won the Home Run title 59 to 24.

Super Tuesday, more Bags of Shit and the Greatest Battle the World has ever seen

Seen a few more incidents were the asshole left a plastic bag full of dog shit on the sidewalk. Look at the one were the person left it right next to a fucking garbage barrel.

News came out that over the weekend Actress Eva Mendes was in treatment for an "issue". Please, the only issue Eva has is being smoking hot and that's not an issue with me.

I don't think anyone reading this gives a shit but I want to go on record and this is my blog, it's were I go on record about things. Spiderman is a Skrull, log it.

There's nothing scarier than when you do a snot rocket but can't find were the snot went.

So a judge has decided that Britney Spears' father should remain in charge of the pop star's affairs.
File this under no shit, are they just coming to this conclusion now. It's been obvious for some time now that Britney should be watching the world series with R.P. McMurphy.

Did you see that the latest fool to blow himself up in Israel stopped and had a cup of coffee?
Bob Watson says :
"That's a guy with priorities. Coffee before all else. "

Tax says:
"I hope Jeff Probst gets his cock bit off by a croc. Fucking worthless puke."

Now I disagree with Tax but he does make a point when he says:
"He has ruined television and is responsible for much of what is wrong with American Culture. I hope he gets the clap and dies."

I like Survivor but reality TV should of ended there, it's awful and out of control.

Today is Super Tuesday! I had the pleasure of having Mr.McCain at the house for a beer yesterday. As we talked he told me this story of a fellow P.O.W.

"Like me, Mike Christian was shot down and captured in Vietnam. As his cellmate, I watched as Mike began to collect little scraps of red, white and blue cloth, and with a needle fashioned from a splinter of bamboo, he sewed an American flag on the inside of his blue prison shirt. Every afternoon, my fellow POWS and I would recite the Pledge of Allegiance to Mike's flag. No other event of the day held as much meaning for us.

The prison guards soon discovered Mike's flag - an offense for which he was beaten severely. Mike was returned to our cell and we helped him to the bare mattress in the room. After a few moments, with Mike still bloodied, broken and eyes nearly swollen shut, we watched in awe as he gathered his scraps of cloth and started sewing another American flag."

This morning Sen. McCain sent me an email which I will share with you now:

Today, Massachusetts voters will help pick our next commander in chief. It is an important responsibility that you shoulder with insight, thoughtfulness and respect, and I want to encourage you to vote today, February 5th.

Tallent, the issues at stake in this election are enormous. Our country is fighting a global war against radical Islamic extremism. Our government has lost the people's trust and confidence. The values we share as a nation, the values that have kept us strong for over 200 years, are being re-shaped through unwarranted judicial activism. While Americans struggle with these burdens, Washington politicians bicker among themselves to grab the slightest short-term political advantage, putting the priorities of the nation on hold.

I have had the great honor of serving our country all my adult life. I have never lived a day, in good times or bad, when I was not grateful for the privilege. Now, I ask for your support and the opportunity to serve again - this time as your president.

As thousands of Massachusetts's sons and daughters risk their lives to defend us, our purpose cannot be ours alone. America is our cause; her greatness our hope, her strength our protection, her goodness the hope of mankind.

That is why I run for president, because the greatest days of our great nation lay ahead. I have the experience, the knowledge and the courage to make the tough decisions and I ask for your vote and support in today's election.

Sincerely,

John McCain

Big ups to Mike Suckabee, he's already taken West Virginia away from Shit, he's really helping McCain win this thing. Also remember when he dove into Jeter and broke his collar bone, I'm starting to like Suckabee, going to have to change his nickname to Mike"I don't give a" Fuckabee

People might think Shit Romney has an edge when it comes to economics over Sen. McCain. I strongly disagree, Shit is blowing more than 35 million of his own dough in this election. I don't think thats smart budgeting, wasting 35 million on a race your not going to win.

Channel 7 has been getting most of my news viewing, they have good election coverage and the roster includes Sorboni Banerjee, Christa Delcamp, Victoria Warren, Michelle Relerford and Frances Rivera. But they have to do something about that Victoria Block. She's down right scary, uglier than a bag full of assholes. I've seen prettier hemorrhoids, Hank Philippe Ryan too, not only is Hank ugly as hell, she's also a snitch, fuck her.

The Gootch's Weekend B's report:
If you told me that the B's would grab 4 points in 3 games against Nashville, in Ottawa and Detroit I would have said your nuts. The B's played Nashville great pounded East Leading Ottawa in Ottawa and then were tied 1-1 going into the third period but lost 3-1, that Detroit team is so good and so fast and the B's played great and could have won that game, they showed that they can play with them. I am very happy with the first 3 games from the B's in the 2nd half, best is yet to come.

I'm siked that that Andre Tippett got into the hall of fame. Well deserved, Tippett was always overshadowed by Lawrence Taylor but was a great Linebackers himself. I was shocked to see Chris Carter didn't get into the hall. He's 2nd in career catches and Touchdowns only behind Jerry Rice. What more does the guy have to do to get into the hall? I bet a few voters did the old "I think he's a hall of famer, just not a first ballot hall of famer" thing. I fucking hate that, your either worthy or not.

On my way home from my super bowl "party" I ran into dozens of yuppies still smiling, laughing having a good time. What's a matter with these stupid pricks and cunts. Obviously phony shitbags that ran over to Bob's stores to get there Wes Welker jersey because "Todd and Catherine are having a Super Bowl party and Todd is making that dip" I try to give my new neighbors the benefit of the doubt, but with this and leaving plastic shit bags everywhere something's got to give.

Today I overheard the Stevester lady say that the Pats lost because Belicheck wore a red sweatshirt. I never wanted to beat the fuck out of a female so much in my life.

Yesterday started the bean cup, I guess it's a big deal in Boston, but I'd rather watch Steel Magnolias. Who gives a fuck about bunch of dickheads that think there gods gift because they play college hockey, they can all go to Dad's dinner and jerk each other off as far as I'm concerned. Check out the new poll at the bottom of the page.

Celts get back to work tonight @ Lebron James, then come home to play the Clippers. With KG most likely out for both games, I'd be ok with a split off the back to back. But if the C's can win tonight they have a great chance to win both.

Before the Celts got good again I watched a lot more college hoops than pro. This season with the NBA on my front burner, BC having a rebuilding year and having a daughter, I haven't seen to much college hoops. As I try to distance myself from anything football for the foreseeable future I'll be watching more college hoops. No better place to start than in Chapel Hill on Wednesday as UNC plays Duke. I would say UNC wins going away but there without awesome point guard Ty Lawson whose out with a sprained ankle, I think it will be a closer game. This game is also the return of Dickey V Baby! Vitale has been out all season recovering from throat surgery. For Dickey to get his voice back to the point were he could call games again, Vitale had to refrain from speaking for 2 months. Can you believe that Dick Vitale couldn't talk for 2 frigin months! I had the pleasure of interviewing Vitale on Friday when I asked if he was excited to be coming back to work Dickey V had this to say "ARE YOU KIDDING TALLENT, IT GREAT TO BE BACK AND WHAT BETTER GAME TO BE BACK FUCKING #2 DUKE AND #3 UNC, MOTHER FUCKER! IT'S GOING TO BE FUCKING AWESOME BABY. I'VE BEEN GOING FUCKING NUTS, COULDN'T TALK FOR 2 MONTHS JUST SIT AROUND THE HOUSE AND LISTEN TO MY FUCKING WIFE, I'M SO SICK OF THE FUCKING BITCH, IF I HAD TO GO ONE MORE DAY WITHOUT TELLING HER TO SHUT UP, I WOULD OF BLEW HER BRAINS OUT BABY!"

In other college hoops news, I guess Bob Knight quit as Texas Tech coach.

Also on Feb 2nd 1944, German forces surrender following the successful Russian siege of Stalingrad.

Stalingrad was the turning point of World War II in the European Theater and was arguably the bloodiest battle in human history, with combined casualties estimated above 1.5 million. The battle was marked by brutality and disregard for military and civilian casualties on both sides. The battle is taken to include the German siege of Stalingrad, the battle inside the city, and the Soviet counter-offensive which eventually trapped and destroyed the German Sixth Army and other Axis forces around the city.

On June 22, 1941, Germany and the Axis powers invaded the Soviet Union, quickly advancing deep into Soviet territory. Having suffered multiple defeats during the summer and autumn of 1941, Soviet forces counter-attacked in the Battle of Moscow in December, driving the Wehrmacht from the capital.

The Germans stabilized their front by spring 1942. The Wehrmacht was confident it could master the Red Army when the winter weather no longer impeded its mobility. There was some substance to this: while Army Group Centre had suffered heavy punishment, 65% of the infantry had not been engaged in the winter fighting, and had spent it resting and refitting[11]. Part of the German military philosophy was to attack where least expected so that rapid gains could be made. An attack on Moscow was seen as too predictable by some, most notably Hitler. Along with this, the German High Command knew that time was running out for them, as the United States had entered the war following Germany's declaration of war in support of its Japanese ally. Hitler wanted to end the fighting on the Eastern Front, or at least minimize it, before the U.S. had a chance to get deeply involved in the war in Europe.

The German offfensive opened as Army Group South began its attack into southern Russia on June 28, 1942. The German offensive started well. Soviet forces offered little resistance in the vast empty steppes and started streaming eastward in disarray. Several attempts to re-establish a defensive line failed when German units outflanked them. Two major pockets were formed and destroyed: the first northeast of Kharkov on July 2 and a second, around Millerovo, Rostov Oblast, a week later.

Meanwhile, the Hungarian Second Army and the German 4th Panzer Army had launched an assault on Voronezh, capturing the city on the 5th of July.

The initial advance of the Sixth Army was so successful that Hitler intervened and ordered the Fourth Panzer Army to join Army Group South (A) to the south. A massive traffic jam resulted when the Fourth Panzer and the Sixth both required the few roads in the area. Both armies were stopped dead while they attempted to clear the resulting mess of thousands of vehicles. The delay was long, and it is thought that it cost the advance at least one week. With the advance now slowed, Hitler changed his mind and re-assigned the Fourth Panzer Army back to the attack on Stalingrad.

By the end of July, the Germans had pushed the Soviets across the Don River. At this point, the Germans began using the armies of their Italian, Hungarian, and Romanian allies to guard their left (northern) flank. The German Sixth Army was only a few dozen kilometers from Stalingrad, and Fourth Panzer Army, now to their south, turned northwards to help take the city. To the south, Army Group A was pushing far into the Caucasus, but their advance slowed as supply lines grew overextended. The two German army groups were not positioned to support one another due to the great distances involved.

After German intentions became clear in July, Stalin appointed Marshall Andrei Yeremenko as commander of the Southeastern Front on August 1, 1942. Yeremenko and Commissar Nikita Krushchev were tasked with planning the defense of Stalingrad . The eastern border of Stalingrad was the wide Volga River, and over the river additional Soviet units were deployed. This combination of units became the newly formed 62nd Army, which Yeremenko placed under the command of Lt. Gen. Vasiliy Chuikov on September 11, 1942. The 62nd Army's mission was to defend Stalingrad at all costs.

Before the Wehrmacht reached the city itself, the Luftwaffe had rendered the Volga River, vital for bringing supplies into the city, virtually unusable to Soviet shipping. Between 25 July and 31 July, 32 Soviet ships were sunk with another nine crippled. The battle began with the heavy bombing of the city by the Generaloberst von Richthofen's Luftflotte 4, which in the summer and autumn of 1942 was the mightiest single air command in the world. Some 1,000 tons were dropped. The city was quickly turned to rubble, although some factories survived and continued production whilst workers joined in the fighting.

Stalin prevented civilians from leaving the city on the premise that their presence would encourage greater resistance from the city's defenders.

Civilians, including women and children, were put to work building trenchworks and protective fortifications. A massive German air bombardment on August 23 caused a firestorm, killing thousands and turning Stalingrad into a vast landscape of rubble and burnt ruins. Ninety percent of the living space in the Voroshilovskiy area was destroyed. were wounded.
The Soviet Air Force, the Voenno-Vozdushnye Sily (VVS), was swept aside by the Luftwaffe. The VVS unit in the immediate area lost 201 aircraft from 23-31 August, and despite meager reinforcements of some 100 aircraft in August, it was with just 192 servicable aircraft which included just 57 fighters. The Soviets poured aerial reinforcements into the Stalingrad area in late September but continued to suffer appalling losses. The Luftwaffe had complete control of the skies.

The burden of the initial defense of the city fell on the 1077th Anti-Aircraft (AA) Regiment, a unit made up mainly of young women volunteers who had no training on engaging ground targets. Despite this, and with no support available from other Soviet units, the AA gunners stayed at their posts and took on the advancing Panzers. The German 16th Panzer Division reportedly had to fight the 1077th’s gunners "shot for shot" until all 37 AA batteries were destroyed or overrun. In the beginning, the Soviets relied extensively on "Workers militias" composed of workers not directly involved in war production. For a short time, tanks continued to be produced and then manned by volunteer crews of factory workers. They were driven directly from the factory floor to the front line, often without paint or even gunsights.

By the end of August, Army Group South (B) had finally reached the Volga, north of Stalingrad. Another advance to the river south of the city followed. By September 1, the Soviets could only reinforce and supply their forces in Stalingrad by perilous crossings of the Volga, under constant bombardment by German artillery and aircraft.

On 5 September, the Soviet 24th and 66th Armies organized a massive attack against XIV. Panzerkorps. The Luftwaffe helped the German forces repulse the offensive by subjecting Soviet artillery positions and defensive lines to heavy attack. The Soviets were forced to withdraw at midday after only a few hours. Of the 120 tanks the Soviets committed, 30 were lost to air attack. Soviet operations were constantly hampered by the Luftwaffe. On 18 September, the Soviet 1st Guards and 24th Army launched an offensive against VIII Armeekorps at Kotluban. VIII. Fliegerkorps dispatched wave after wave of Stuka dive-bombers to prevent a breakthrough. The offensive was repulsed, and the Stukas claimed 41 of the 106 Soviet tanks knocked out that morning while escorting Bf 109s destroyed 77 Soviet aircraft, shattering their remaining strength. Amid the debris of the wrecked city, the Soviet 62nd and 64th Armies, which included the Soviet 13th Guards Rifle Division, anchored their defense lines with strongpoints in houses and factories. Fighting was fierce and desperate. The life expectancy of a newly-arrived Soviet private in the city dropped to less than 24 hours, while that of a Soviet officer was about 3 days. Stalin's Order No. 227 of July 27, 1942, decreed that all commanders who order unauthorized retreat should be subjects of a military tribunal. “Not a step back!” was the slogan. The Germans pushing forward into Stalingrad suffered heavy casualties.

German military doctrine was based on the principle of combined-arms teams and close cooperation by tanks, infantry, engineers, artillery, and ground-attack aircraft. To counter this, Soviet commanders adopted the simple expedient of always keeping the front lines as close together as physically possible. Chuikov called this tactic "hugging" the Germans. This forced the German infantry to either fight on their own or risk taking casualties from their own supporting fire; it neutralized close German air support and weakened artillery support. Bitter fighting raged for every street, every factory, every house, basement and staircase. The Germans, calling this unseen urban warfare Rattenkrieg ("rat war"), bitterly joked about capturing the kitchen but still fighting for the living-room.

Fighting on Mamayev Kurgan, a prominent, blood-soaked hill above the city, was particularly merciless. The position changed hands many times. During one Soviet counter-attack, the Russians lost an entire division of 10,000 men in one day[citation needed]. At the Grain Silo, a huge grain-processing complex dominated by a single enormous silo, combat was so close that Soviet and German soldiers could hear each other breathe. Combat raged there for weeks. When German soldiers finally took the position, only 40 Soviet bodies could be found, though the Germans had thought there to be many more Soviet soldiers present due to the ferocity of Soviet resistance.[attribution needed] In another part of the city, a Soviet platoon under the command of Yakov Pavlov turned an apartment building into an impenetrable fortress. The building, later called “Pavlov's House,” oversaw a square in the city center. The soldiers surrounded it with minefields, set up machine-gun positions at the windows, and breached the walls in the basement for better communications.

With no end in sight, the Germans started transferring heavy artillery to the city, including the gigantic 800 mm railroad gun nicknamed Dora. The Germans made no effort to send a force across the Volga, allowing the Soviets to build up a large number of artillery batteries there. Soviet artillery on the eastern bank continued to bombard the German positions. The Soviet defenders used the resulting ruins as defensive positions. German tanks became useless amid heaps of rubble up to 8 meters high. When they were able to move forward, they came under Soviet antitank fire from wrecked buildings.

For both Stalin and Hitler, the battle of Stalingrad became a prestige issue, on top of the actual strategic significance of the battle. The Soviet command moved the Red Army's strategic reserves from the Moscow area to the lower Volga, and transferred aircraft from the entire country to the Stalingrad region. The strain on both military commanders was immense: Paulus developed an uncontrollable tic in his eye, while Chuikov experienced an outbreak of eczema that required him to bandage his hands completely. The troops on both sides faced the constant strain of close-range combat.

Determined to crush Soviet resistance, Luftflotte 4s Stukawaffe flew 700 individual sorties against Soviet positions at the Dzherzhinskiy Tractor Factory on 5 October. Several Soviet Regiments were wiped out. The entire staff of the Soviet 339th Infantry Regiment were killed the following morning during an air raid.

By mid-October, the Luftwaffe intensified its efforts against remaining Red Army positions holding the west bank. By now, Soviet aerial resistance had ceased to be effective. Luftflotte 4 flew 2,000 sorties on 14 October and 600 tons of bombs were dropped while German infantry surrounded the three factories. Stukageschwader 1, 2, and 77 had silenced Soviet artillery on the Eastern bank of the Volga to a large degree before turning their attention to the shipping that was once again trying to reinforce the narrowing Soviet pockets of resistance. The 62nd Army had been cut in two, and, due to intensive air attack against its supply ferries, were now being paralyzed.

With the Soviets forced into a 1,000-yard (910 m) strip of land on the western bank of the Volga, over 1,208 Stuka missions were flown in an effort to eliminate them. Despite the heavy air bombardment (Stalingrad suffered heavier bombardment than that inflicted on Sedan and Sevastopol), the Soviet 62 Army, with just 47,000 men and 19 tanks, prevented the VI. Armee and IV.Panzerarmee from wrestling the west bank out of Soviet control.

The Luftwaffe remained in command of the sky into early November, and Soviet aerial during the day was non-existant, but after flying 20,000 individual sorties, its original strength of 1,600 serviceable aircraft had fallen 40% to 950. The Kampfwaffe (bomber force) had been hardest hit, having only 232 out of a force of 480 left. Despite enjoying qualitative superiority against the VVS and possessing eighty-percent of the Luftwaffe's eastern front strength, Luftflotte 4 could not prevent Soviet aerial strength growing. By the time of the counter-offensive, the Soviets were superior numerically.

The Soviet bomber force, the Aviatsiya Dalnego Destviya (ADD), having taken crippling losses over the past 18 months was restricted to flying at night. The Soviets had flown 11,317 sorties in this manor form 17 July to 19 November over Stalingrad and the Don-bend sector. These raids caused little damage and were of nuisance value. The situation for the Luftwaffe was now becoming increasingly difficult. On 8 November substantial units from Luftflotte 4 were removed to combat the American landings in North Africa. The German air-arm found itself spread thin across Europe, and struggling to maintain its strength in the other southern sectors of the Soviet-German front.

After three months of carnage and slow and costly advance, the Germans finally reached the river banks, capturing 90% of the ruined city and splitting the remaining Soviet forces into two narrow pockets. In addition, ice-floes on the Volga now prevented boats and tugs from supplying the Soviet defenders across the river. Nevertheless, the fighting, especially on the slopes of Mamayev Kurgan and inside the factory area in the northern part of the city, continued as fiercely as ever. The battles for the Red October Steel Factory, the Dzerzhinsky tractor factory, and the Barrikady gun factory became world famous. While Soviet soldiers defended their positions and took the Germans under fire, factory workers repaired damaged Soviet tanks and other weapons close to the battlefield, sometimes on the battlefield itself.

During the siege, the German, Italian, Hungarian, and Romanian armies protecting Army Group South (B)'s flanks had pressed their headquarters for support. The Hungarian Second Army, consisting of mainly ill-equipped and ill-trained units, was given the task of defending a 200 km section of the front north of Stalingrad. This resulted in a very thin line of defense with some parts where 1–2 km stretches were being guarded by a single platoon. Soviet forces held several points on the south bank of the river and presented a potentially serious threat to Army Group South (B). However, Hitler was so focused on the city itself that requests from the flanks for support were refused. The chief of the Army General Staff, Franz Halder, expressed concerns about Hitler's preoccupation with the city, pointing at the Germans' weak flanks, claiming that if the situation on the flanks was not rectified then 'there would be a disaster'. Hitler, had claimed to Halder that Stalingrad would be captured and the weakened flanks would be held with 'national socialist ardour, clearly I cannot expect this of you (Halder)'. Halder was then replaced in mid-October with General Kurt Zeitzler.

In autumn the Soviet generals Aleksandr Vasilyevskiy and Georgy Zhukov, responsible for strategic planning in the Stalingrad area, concentrated massive Soviet forces in the steppes to the north and south of the city. The German northern flank was particularly vulnerable, since it was defended by Italian, Hungarian, and Romanian units that suffered from inferior training, equipment, and morale when compared with their German counterparts. This weakness was known and exploited by the Soviets, who preferred to face off against non-German troops whenever it was possible, just as the British preferred attacking Italian troops, instead of German ones, whenever possible, in North Africa. The plan was to keep pinning the Germans down in the city, then punch through the overstretched and weakly defended German flanks and surround the Germans inside Stalingrad. During the preparations for the attack, Marshal Zhukov personally visited the front, which was rare for such a high-ranking general.[17] The operation was code-named “Uranus” and launched in conjunction with Operation Mars, which was directed at Army Group Center. The plan was similar to Zhukov's victory at Khalkin Gol three years before, where he had sprung a double envelopment and destroyed the 23rd Division of the Japanese army.[32]

On November 19, the Red Army unleashed Uranus. The attacking Soviet units under the command of Gen. Nikolay Vatutin consisted of three complete armies, the 1st Guards Army, 5th Tank Army, and 21st Army, including a total of 18 infantry divisions, eight tank brigades, two motorized brigades, six cavalry divisions and one anti-tank brigade. The preparations for the attack could be heard by the Romanians, who continued to push for reinforcements, only to be refused again. Thinly spread, outnumbered and poorly equipped, the Romanian Third Army, which held the northern flank of German Sixth Army, was shattered. On November 20, a second Soviet offensive (two armies) was launched to the south of Stalingrad, against points held by the Romanian IV Corps. The Romanian forces, made up primarily of infantry, collapsed almost immediately. Soviet forces raced west in a pincer movement, and met two days later near the town of Kalach, sealing the ring around Stalingrad. The Russians later reconstructed the link up for use as propaganda, and the piece of footage achieved worldwide fame.

Because of the Soviet pincer attack, about 230,000 German and Romanian soldiers, as well as some Croatian units and volunteer subsidiary troops found themselves trapped inside the resulting pocket. Inside the pocket (German: kessel) there also were the surviving Soviet civilians—around 10,000, and several thousand Soviet soldiers the Germans had taken captive during the battle. Not all German soldiers from Sixth Army were trapped; 50,000 were brushed aside outside the pocket. The encircling Red Army units immediately formed two defensive fronts: a circumvallation facing 'inward', to defend against breakout attempt, and a contravallation facing 'outward' to defend against any relief attempt.

Adolf Hitler had declared in a public speech (in the Berlin Sportpalast) on September 30 that the German army would never leave the city. At a meeting shortly after the Soviet encirclement, German army chiefs pushed for an immediate breakout to a new line on the west of the Don. But Hitler was at his Bavarian retreat of Obersalzberg in Berchtesgaden with the head of the Luftwaffe, Göring. When asked by Hitler, Göring replied, after being convinced by Hans Jeschonnek, that the Luftwaffe could supply the Sixth Army with an "air bridge". This would allow the Germans in the city to fight on while a relief force was assembled.

A similar plan had been used successfully a year earlier at the Demyansk Pocket, albeit on a much smaller scale: it had been only an army corps at Demyansk as opposed to an entire army. Also, Soviet fighter forces had improved considerably in both quality and quantity in the intervening year. But the mention of the successful Demyansk air supply operation reinforced Hitler's own views, and was endorsed by Hermann Göring several days later.

The head of the Fourth Air Fleet (Luftflotte 4), Wolfram von Richthofen, tried in vain to overturn this decision without success. The Sixth Army would be supplied by air. The Sixth Army was the largest unit of this type in the world, almost twice as large as a regular German army. Also trapped in the pocket was a corps of the Fourth Panzer Army. It should have been clear that supplying the pocket by air was impossible, and the maximum 117.5 tons they could deliver a day would be less than the 800 needed by the pocket. To supplement the limited number of Junkers Ju 52 transports, bomber units equipped with aircraft wholly inadequate for the role, such as the He-177, (the Heinkel He-111 proved to be quite capable and was a lot faster than the Ju 52) were pressed into service. But Hitler backed Göring's plan and reiterated his order of "no surrender" to his trapped armies.

The air supply mission failed. Appalling weather conditions, technical failures, heavy Soviet anti-aircraft fire and fighter interceptions led to the loss of 488 German aircraft. The Luftwaffe failed to achieve even the maximum supply capacity of 117 tons that it was capable of. An average of 94 tons of supplies per day was delivered to the trapped German Army. Even then, it was often inadequate or unnecessary; one aircraft arrived with 20 tonnes of Vodka and summer uniforms, completely useless in their current situation. The transport aircraft that did land safely were used to evacuate technical specialists and sick or wounded men from the besieged enclave (some 42,000 were evacuated in all). The Sixth Army slowly starved. Pilots were shocked to find the troops assigned to offloading the planes too exhausted and hungry to unload food. General Zeitzler, moved by the troops' plight at Stalingrad, began to limit himself to their slim rations at meal times. After a few weeks of such a diet he'd grown so emaciated that Hitler, annoyed, personally ordered him to start eating regular meals again.

The expense to the Transportgruppen was heavy. Some 266 Junkers Ju 52s were destroyed, one-third of the fleets strength on the Soviet-German front. The He 111 gruppen lost 165 aircraft in transport operations. Other losses included 42 Junkers Ju 86s, nine Fw 200 "Condors", five He 177 bombers and a single Ju 290. The Luftwaffe also lost close to 1,000 highly experienced bomber crew personnel.

So heavy were the Luftwaffe's losses that four of Luftflotte 4s transport units (KGrzbV 700, KGrzbV 900, I./KGrzbV 1 and II./KGzbV 1) were "formally dissolved"[

Soviet forces consolidated their positions around Stalingrad, and fierce fighting to shrink the pocket began. An attack by a German battlegroup formed to relieve the trapped armies from the South, Operation Wintergewitter (“Operation Winter Thunderstorm”) was successfully fended off by the Soviets in December. The full impact of the harsh Russian winter set in. The Volga froze solid, allowing the Soviets to supply their forces in the city more easily. The trapped Germans rapidly ran out of heating fuel and medical supplies, and thousands started dying of frostbite, malnutrition and disease.

On December 16, the Soviets launched a second offensive, Operation Saturn, which attempted to punch through the Axis army on the Don and take Rostov. If successful, this offensive would have trapped the remainder of Army Group South, one third of the entire German Army in Russia, in the Caucasus. The Germans set up a "mobile defense" in which small units would hold towns until supporting armor could arrive. The Soviets never got close to Rostov, but the fighting forced von Manstein to extract Army Group A from the Caucasus and restabilize the frontline some 250 km away from the city. The Tatsinskaya Raid also caused significant losses to Luftwaffe’s transport fleet. The Sixth Army now was beyond all hope of German reinforcement. The German troops in Stalingrad were not told this, however, and continued to believe that reinforcements were on their way. Some German officers requested that Paulus defy Hitler’s orders to stand fast and instead attempt to break out of the Stalingrad pocket. Paulus refused, as he abhorred the thought of disobeying orders. Also, whereas a breakout may have been possible in the first few weeks, at this late stage, Sixth Army was short of the fuel required for such a breakout. The German soldiers would have faced great difficulty breaking through the Soviet lines on foot in harsh winter conditions.

The Germans inside the pocket retreated from the suburbs of Stalingrad to the city itself. The loss of the two airfields at Pitomnik on 16 January and Gumrak on the 25 January meant an end to air supplies and to the evacuation of the wounded.[4 The Germans were now not only starving, but running out of ammunition. Nevertheless they continued to resist stubbornly, partly because they believed the Soviets would execute those who surrendered. In particular, the so-called "HiWis", Soviet citizens fighting for the Germans, had no illusions about their fate if captured. The Soviets, in turn, were initially surprised by the large number of German forces they had trapped, and had to reinforce their encircling forces. Bloody urban warfare began again in Stalingrad, but this time it was the Germans who were pushed back to the banks of the Volga. A Soviet envoy made Paulus a generous surrender offer—that if he surrendered within 24 hours, the Germans would receive a guarantee of safety for all prisoners, medical care for the German sick and wounded, a promise that prisoners would be allowed to keep their personal belongings, "normal" food rations, and repatriation to whatever country they wished to go to after the war—but Paulus, ordered not to surrender by Adolf Hitler, did not reply, ensuring the destruction of the 6th Army.

Hitler promoted Friedrich Paulus to Generalfeldmarschall on January 30, 1943, (the 10th anniversary of Hitler coming to power). Since no German Field Marshal had ever been taken prisoner, Hitler assumed that Paulus would fight on or take his own life. Nevertheless, when Soviet forces closed in on Paulus' headquarters in the ruined GUM department store the next day, Paulus surrendered. The remnants of the German forces in Stalingrad surrendered on February 2; 91,000 tired, ill, and starving Germans were taken captive. To the delight of the Soviet forces and the dismay of the Third Reich, the prisoners included 22 generals. Hitler was furious at the Field Marshal’s surrender and confided that "Paulus stood at the doorstep of eternal glory but made an about-face". It should be noted that von Paulus was the first German field marshal to be captured alive in German history. Most others would commit suicide if threatened with capture.

According to the German documentary film Stalingrad, over 11,000 German and Axis soldiers refused to lay down their arms at the official surrender, seemingly believing that fighting to the death was better than what seemed like a slow end in Soviet camps. These forces continued to resist until early March 1943, hiding in cellars and sewers of the city with their numbers being diminished at the same time by Soviet forces clearing the city of remaining enemy resistance. By March, what remained of these forces were small and isolated pockets of resistance that surrendered. According to Soviet intelligence documents shown in the documentary, 2,418 of the men were killed, and 8,646 were captured.[41]

Only 5,000 of the 91,000 German prisoners of war survived their captivity and returned home. Already weakened by disease, starvation and lack of medical care during the encirclement, they were sent to labour camps all over the Soviet Union, where most of them died of overwork and malnutrition. A handful of senior officers were taken to Moscow and used for propaganda purposes and some of them joined National Committee for a Free Germany. Some, including Paulus, signed anti-Hitler statements which were broadcast to German troops. General Walther von Seydlitz-Kurzbach offered to raise an anti-Hitler army from the Stalingrad survivors, but the Soviets did not accept this offer. It was not until 1955 that the last of the handful of survivors were repatriated.

The German public was not officially told of the disaster until the end of January 1943, though positive reports in the German propaganda media about the battle had stopped in the weeks before the announcement. It was not the first major setback of the German military, but the crushing defeat at Stalingrad was unmatched in scale. On February 18, the minister of propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, gave his famous Sportpalast speech in Berlin, encouraging the Germans to accept a total war which would claim all resources and efforts from the entire population.

The battle of Stalingrad was one of the largest battles in human history. It raged for 199 days. Numbers of casualties are difficult to compile due to the vast scope of the battle and the fact that the Soviet government did not allow estimates to be made, for fear the cost would be shown to be too high. In its initial phases, the Germans inflicted heavy casualties on Soviet formations; but the Soviet encirclement by punching through the German flank, mainly held by Romanian troops, effectively besieged the remainder of German Sixth Army, which had taken heavy casualties in street fighting prior to this. At different times the Germans had held up to 90% of the city, yet the Soviet soldiers and officers fought on fiercely. Some elements of the German Fourth Panzer Army also suffered casualties in operations around Stalingrad during the Soviet counter offensive.

Various scholars have estimated the Axis suffered 850,000 casualties of all types (wounded, killed, captured...etc) among all branches of the German armed forces and its allies, many of which were POWs who died in Soviet captivity between 1943 and 1955,: 400,000 Germans, 200,000 Romanians, 130,000 Italians, and 120,000 Hungarians were killed, wounded or captured[42]. Of the 91,000 German POW's taken at Stalingrad 27,000 died within weeksand only 5,000 returned to Germany in 1955. The remainder of the POWs died in Soviet captivity. In the whole Stalingrad area the Axis lost 1.5 million killed, wounded or captured. 50,000 ex-Soviets Hiwis (local volunteers incorporated into the German forces in supporting capacities) were killed or captured by the Red Army. According to archival figures, the Red Army suffered a total of 1,129,619 total casualties; 478,741 men killed and captured and 650,878 wounded. These numbers are for the whole Stalingrad Area, in the city itself 750,000 were killed, captured, or wounded. Also, more than 40,000 Soviet civilians died in Stalingrad and its suburbs during a single week of aerial bombing as the German Fourth Panzer and Sixth armies approached the city; the total number of civilians killed in the regions outside the city is unknown. In all, the battle resulted in an estimated total of 1.7 million to 2 million Axis and Soviet casualties.

Now obviously I didn't type all those fringing words, most of that was C&P'd from Wikipedia, but I did know all that because of the book Stalingrad: The Fateful Siege: 1942-1943 by Antony Beevor. This a great war book, I'm pretty sure the only book I've ever read twice(and it's pretty big). Because of the books importance to me it will be the first book on the FUCK OPRAH BOOK CLUB: Because if she can have a book club then so can't I. The book club for real people not the pussy stories and backwards values that fat bitch tries to instill on people. Good books certainly better than the required reading I'm trying to do for work right now.

No birthdays on Feb 3rd but it was the day the music died. Buddy Holly, along with Ritchie Valens (who had a number one hit on the charts), and the Big Bopper (J. P. Richardson), perished in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa.

For thoughts on this event we turn to Jack Kirkpatrick:

"Shanna, they bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say, let 'em crash."

Feb 4th-Boxing great Oscar De La Hoya & hot chick Natalie Imbruglia (ca.askmen.com)

Feb 5th-Real homerun king Hank Aaron & NFL great Roger Staubach

Thanks for reading
